Experienced Tax Preparer

Position Summary

Income Tax Preparer Responsibilities
  • Conducting face to face interviews with clients in order to determine information regarding taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances including reviews of financial records, such as prior year tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures.
  • Prepare income tax return forms for individuals and small businesses in accordance with policies and in compliance with regulations and legislation.
  • Furnish taxpayer with sufficient information and advice to ensure correct tax form completion.
  • Consult tax law reference materials to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns.
  • Answers questions and provide future tax planning to clients.
  • Researches tax related questions and issues, and responds to clients appropriately and within a timely manner.
  • Resolves client complaints, or refers situations to a supervisor (as appropriate) for resolution.
  • Reviews all tax return forms for accuracy and completeness (i.e. client signatures).
Required Skills and Experience
  • High School Degree or equivalent related business experience
  • Must have at least one year of tax preparation experience completing individual returns
  • PTIN required
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent math skills
  • Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be available days, evening, weekends, and some holidays
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax
  • Experience completing complex returns (individual, corporate)
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
